Redefining Traction-Only Trucking
We’re proud to share that Egala UK has been featured in the latest issue of Transport & Logistics Magazine (Issue 283), recognising our rapid growth and our role in redefining traction-only, on-demand trucking in the UK logistics market.
The feature explores how Egala UK (part of Egala by Boekestijn) is helping customers reduce fleet-related CapEx while maintaining full flexibility and scalability, a model that continues to gain momentum across the industry.

Founded in 2022 and based in Immingham, Egala UK was created to challenge conventional approaches to fleet ownership. As highlighted in the article, our traction-only model provides customers with trucks, professional drivers and access to trusted trailer partners, without the financial and operational burden of owning and maintaining their own fleet.
This approach delivers the benefits of an in-house fleet while absorbing CapEx risk, enabling customers to scale capacity up or down in line with demand. Backed by Boekestijn’s extensive continental network and strong capital foundation, Egala is uniquely positioned to deploy fleet at scale without compromising flexibility.
The article highlights Egala UK’s significant fleet growth, expanding from an initial O-licence covering around 25 vehicles to a licence capable of supporting up to 100 vehicles by the end of 2025, a testament to both market demand and operational capability.
According to Robert Thompson, Business Development Manager at Egala UK, this growth has been driven not by competing on price alone, but by a strong focus on service and long-term partnerships. Many customers begin their journey with just one or two trucks, gradually increasing volumes as confidence and trust grow.

A key theme throughout the feature is Egala’s driver-first philosophy. The company name itself, derived from the French word for equality, reflects a culture that places drivers at the heart of the business.
“Without the drivers, we don’t have a business. They are core to what we do,” Robert Thompson, Business Development Manager, Egala UK
This culture has helped position Egala as an employer of choice, supporting strong driver attraction and retention in a highly competitive market. High standards of professionalism, safety and sustainability are supported by advanced telematics and camera systems, underpinned by trust, transparency and ongoing support.
The feature also highlights Egala’s commitment to sustainability. Leveraging experience and systems from continental operations, Egala provides robust reporting and documentation to support customers on their carbon reduction journeys.
With extensive experience in HVO and electric vehicles, Egala is already working with customers to introduce alternative-fuel fleets, with plans underway to have HVO trucks on UK roads in early 2026.

Rather than chasing fixed growth targets, Egala UK remains focused on responding to customer needs and strengthening service delivery. Whether that means supporting a fleet of 150, 200 or more vehicles in the future, flexibility remains at the core of the model, alongside continued investment in drivers, equipment and service quality.
