Althaus and Egala: Managing Pre-Christmas Transport Operations in Germany

Coordinating trucks, trailers, and tracking during peak season

In November 2025, Althaus Spedition and Egala began a cooperation focused on managing transport operations in Germany during the demanding pre-Christmas period. This time of year is traditionally one of the most challenging phases in logistics, requiring precise planning, flexibility, and constant coordination across all operational levels.

The cooperation was designed to support increased transport needs while maintaining reliability and transparency throughout the entire process. From the beginning, both teams aligned on clear expectations and a solution-oriented approach to daily operations.

Project Scope and Operational Setup

The project covered a broad operational scope and required the coordination of multiple moving parts at the same time. Transport operations included both single-driver trucks and team trucks, allowing flexibility in planning routes and schedules depending on urgency and workload.

To support these operations, rented trailers from different suppliers were integrated into the fleet. This required close coordination to ensure the right equipment was available at the right time and location. Additionally, the project involved multiple loading locations, adding another layer of complexity to planning and execution.

A key element of the cooperation was the use of digital tracking with automated status updates. This allowed all parties to stay informed about transport progress in real time and ensured transparency throughout the execution phase.

Customer Perspective: Flexibility and Communication

From the customer’s point of view, two aspects stood out in particular: flexibility and a solution-oriented mindset. During a high-pressure period such as the pre-Christmas season, unexpected challenges are inevitable. What mattered most was how quickly and effectively those challenges were addressed.

As emphasized by Soeren Striegler from Althaus, communication played a central role in the positive experience:

“I made really good experiences in terms of communication, quality and flexibility.”

The ability to respond to changing circumstances and maintain service quality was repeatedly highlighted:

“Don’t care which problems will occur, by now Egala always found a solution to fulfill client needs.”

Even under tight timelines, the commitment to making things work remained consistent:

“Even with short notice time, your team is trying to make everything possible.”

These statements reflect the importance of reliability and adaptability in daily transport operations, especially during peak periods.

Operational Execution and Team Coordination

Behind the scenes, the project required strong operational coordination and continuous monitoring. Planning alone was not enough: successful execution depended on translating plans into real-time decisions on the road.

This responsibility was handled by Maciej Maczyszyn’s team, with a particularly important role played by Senior Dispatcher Adam Wróbel. Their focus was on assigning the appropriate trucks and trailers to the correct loading locations while keeping a close eye on execution throughout the entire project.

By actively monitoring transport status and reacting to changes as they occurred, the team ensured that operations stayed on schedule and aligned with customer expectations.

Foundation of the Cooperation

The cooperation between Althaus and Egala did not start spontaneously. Before working together operationally, both sides had already established contact and exchanged ideas in a professional setting.

Prior to the project, Egala had met Soeren Striegler at the Trucking Summit in the Netherlands, where discussions focused on industry topics and potential future cooperation. This earlier exchange created a foundation of mutual understanding and trust, which later translated into effective collaboration during the project.

Looking Ahead

Following the successful cooperation during the pre-Christmas period, both Althaus and Egala are planning further projects together. The experience gained during this intensive operational phase has laid the groundwork for continued collaboration and future joint initiatives.
